2018 London Stationery Show favourites

2018 London Stationery Show

We recently attended the London Stationery Show at the Business Design Centre in Angel. If you have never been to an event there, it is a lovely space with a beautiful glass roof that runs the length of the centre, letting in a lot of natural light. The show was a very manageable size, allowing you to get around all the exhibitors easily. It had a very different feel to Top Drawer which was a much bigger show (held at Olympia London) and felt much less cosy and relaxed. The staff at the event were amazing and everyone seemed to be having a good time.

So, what did we see and what did we like? Well firstly I want to congratulate all the exhibitors at the show because everyone did an amazing job with their stands and were very approachable. We know how much work goes into exhibiting so anyone that makes the commitment deserves a lot of admiration. A special thank you to whomever was responsible for the sweet stand – it provided a very welcome sugar kick! Here are our three favourite displays from the show.

Portico Designs

Portico Designs

This is a well-established Bath-based company that has been around for 25 years. They represent lots of brands, but one stood out for us – Sky + Miller. We were particularly taken by their A5 journals. These are very well-made and come with a vegan leather cover. If you have never felt vegan leather, it is very soft and gives a nice tactile touch to the journal. It’s also nice to know that no animal was harmed in its construction. All the other details were just perfect – the inside cover pattern design, multicoloured bookmark ribbon, 100gsm sheets and lay flat binding. They have an absolute treasure trove of other stationery brand and products which you can check out here.

Kaiser Style

Kaiser Style

This is an Australian brand based in Geelong, Victoria. We have fond memories of visiting the beautiful Geelong waterfront whilst living in Melbourne in 2017 (it is a short train ride away) and had come across Kaiser Style as they have a big store in the CBD. When we first wandered around their store in Melbourne, we couldn’t believe the quality and how extensive the range of products was. So, it was amazing to see them at the show all the way from down under and view their new range. They have very stylish designs at an affordable price point and are well worth checking out. We particularly liked their Smudge collection of greeting cards with matte foil accents. Check them out here.

Clipmatic

Clipmatic

We were so impressed by this new Bristol-based company. Their products - accessories for spiral notebooks - were so innovative and well executed. Their clips and stickers enhance your notebook by allowing you to add sections, new notes, rulers, schedules, document pouches and more. They are a must for anyone that uses a spiral notebook on a regular basis. They are still very new and it doesn’t look like you can purchase on their website yet but sign up to their mailing list to be the first to know when they are launching here.

This is just a taste of the many amazing products at this year’s show, but these were the ones that stood out for us. Well done to everyone that attended this year. We will be at Pulse London which is being held at Olympia from the 13th to the 15th of May. Come see us at stand L28 if you are attending, we would love to meet you.
